So far with my In-Depth project I haven’t tried any attempts at actually carving fruit or vegetables, except 1 (Picture down below). What I have done though is practice my cutting techniques and out of the knives I own, tested which worked best on which certain fruits or veggies. My conclusion to that little study is… None of them. All my knives are not proper for delicately carving fruit or vegetables. They are not sharp enough and the handles are not shaped in a way that is practical for precise cutting.
Here is my first attempt at carving any sort of fruit or vegetable. I attempted to carve an apple into a swan. I simply watched a 1 minute Youtube tutorial on how to do it and then started choppin’ away.
Not too bad for a first attempt eh?
Actually the entire other wing, the one you can’t see, is kinda messed up. But hey, its my first attempt.
What I have learned so far from my In-Depth experience is that fruit carving is a very delicate thing. If you want to do a good job you need to have patience and a steady hand; and I also learned that I need to buy some sharper knives.

Great first attempt. Not an easy to design to start with. I bring my carving book with more samples. Time to get some good knives!

Ok, sounds good. Thank You Ms. Mulder. Also, it actually isn’t that complicated of a design. It’s quite simple and repetitive.
